Lord Nazir Ahmed was born in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and came to Rotherham, UK as a small child. He was educated in Spurley Hey Comprehensive School and then Thomas Rotherham College, Rotherham, South yorkshire. He then graduated in Public Administration from Sheffield Hallam University in 1992.

Later, Lord Ahmed went on to build a career as a serving development manager while keeping actively involved in the local community. It is clear that Lord Ahmed's heart lies in community work. The range of his charitable work over the years is quite astonishing.

He was raised to the peerage as Baron Ahmed, of Rotherham in the county of South Yorkshire in 1998.

Lord Ahmed strongly believes that internal disputes among Pakistanis in Britain have a detrimental affect upon their success. He believes that Pakistanis should become involved in UK politics and forget the politics of Pakistan while living in this country, as that way will only devide the community.

Lord Nazir Ahmed has been the first at so many things and continues to strive to achieve still more that his life should be seen as a model for others to look upon.

Lord Ahmed likes to spend what is left of his spare time in reading, traveling and sampling international food.
