Lahore: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that shameful role of India in keeping Pakistan on grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has been exposed. He said that Indian external affairs minister's recent statement about Pakistan showed the real face of India. There is no doubt that India has become a facilitator of terrorists and enemy of peace in the region, he added.
Governor Ch Sarwar said that India, the biggest threat to peace in the region, could not digest progress, peace and stability of Pakistan. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan Pakistan would succeed, and India would fail in its ambitions.
Ch Mohammad Sarwar said that India wanted to destabilise Afghanistan by promoting terrorism in the region. Pakistan, on the other hand, has wholeheartedly worked for peace in Afghanistan without taking sides, he said while talking to senior journalists at the Governor House. The governor said that Pakistan was not supporting or opposing any group in Afghanistan as the decision on Afghanistan was now to be taken by the Afghans.
We stand by peace, and we will continue to play our role for peace because peace in Afghanistan will benefit Pakistan more than any other country in the region. Bullet cannot replace ballot in Afghanistan, he added. He said Pakistan had been sacrificing the most for war on terror.
Talking about his recent visit to the United States, the governor said that he held successful meetings with the US officials there. He said he briefed the US officials on Pakistan's sacrifices against terrorism and its role in establishing peace.
In my tour to the United States, I briefed the American leadership about our role for peace in Afghanistan and the region. It helped them in understanding Pakistani version. It will prove beneficial for Pakistan, he remarked. Ch Sarwar appreciated the Pakistani and Indian Sikh communities in the United States who, were on the same page. He said the Sikh community had always stood by Pakistan's position on all issues including Kashmir.
I have urged overseas Pakistanis to do full politics in the United States. Hopefully, success will be their destiny, he said. Replying to a question, Ch Sarwar said that India had always been working on the agenda of destabilising Pakistan and everyone knew about India's hand behind the conspiracies against peace in Pakistan.
I have no doubt that today India is supporting those who spread terrorism and anarchy on the issue of Afghanistan. It is also a fact that India is alone today on the diplomatic front while and Pakistan is moving forward successfully, he added.
Replying to another question on Punjab Water Authority, the governor said: Unfortunately, we have been facing difficulties in the Punjab Water Authority due to bureaucratic hurdles, but, today the government, the bureaucracy and the Punjab Water Authority are on the same page.
He said work had started on 1500 projects to provide clean drinking water to the people in all cities and villages of Punjab including Lahore without any political distinction. Along with this, we have also rehabilitated closed filtration plants in various cities in collaboration with welfare organisations, he said.
