Pakistan, Malaysia agree to enhance cooperation in various fields

Kuala Lumpur: Addressing a joint news conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan wants to learn from Malaysia's experience of turning around economy, trade, and development in other sectors.
 
PM Imran Khan said Pakistan has huge untapped tourism resources, which we want to develop this on the pattern Malaysia has developed it. Both Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields, including trade, privatization, investment, and food.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Malaysia and Pakistan face similar challenges and it has been decided to cooperate with one another to cope with them. He emphasized the need to continue mutual cooperation to benefit from the experiences of one another.
 
Dr Mahathir Mohamad said it was also decided to have a dialogue partnership at the ASEAN group; besides, enhancing mutual cooperation in defence sector. Besides, Pakistan and Malaysia will sign an agreement on the partial abolition of visa for travel between the two countries.
 
In a statement, the Malaysian foreign ministry said the two Prime Ministers, Dr Mahathir Muhammad and Imran Khan will witness the signing ceremony after talks in Kuala Lumpur. The statement said Imran Khan and Dr Mahathir in their meeting will review the existing bilateral relations and cooperation as well as identify new areas for future collaboration.
