Professional Achievements

Farkhanda Chaudhry has five children and one grandchild. She has worked with the Muslim community for many years and professionally her background lies in community development and equalities work. She has supported the development of many organisations over the years, in particular women's organisations.
 
She is currently studying post graduate MSc in Equality and Discrimination and also working at a corporate level in a Local Authority in Scotland and has returned from working in Iraq on secondment.
 
She worked as a Gender Advisor to the Coalition Authority and supported women's social and political development. She has been a Justice of the Peace in Glasgow for eight years and was the first Muslim women in Scotland to take up this public position. She has recently been awarded the MBE in recognition of her work in Iraq.
 
Farkhanda Chaudhry is a Commissioner with the Women's National Commission and is chair of the Muslim Women's Network.
