Honesty and integrity are characteristics which many seek to have but which not everyone achieves. The man who is true to his word and deed is rare but not unknown. One such individual is Justice (R) Tariq Mehmood, a well-known lawyer and judge.
Born on 3 March, 1949, Justice Tariq Mehmood is also famous as the Leader of Lawyers’ Movement. He was also in the panel of lawyers of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry's suspension case of presidential reference in the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan. He was arrested and detained with his family during the 2007 state of emergency.
As honourable judge of the Balochistan High Court, he refused to take an oath under General Pervez Musharraf. He lived in Quetta for a while. He was also the former president of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan.
Justice Tariq Mehmood frequently appears on a number of popular TV talk news shows and is known for his candid and honest views.
