Arshad Sharif

Currently hosting his popular talk show PowerPlay on ARY News, Arshad Sharif was born on 22 February, 1973 in Karachi. A journalist, writer and photographer, Arshad Sharif began his journalistic career as a freelancer in 1993 while he was still a student.

Arshad Sharif, who gained his Master of Science in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and Master's degree in Media Studies from UK with distinction as a Chevening scholar has worked with leading national and international media organisations. He has received award for his journalistic work.

He has served on Aaj News as Director News. Prior to joining Aaj, he was leading the news team of Dunya TV in Islamabad as Director News and the host of programme Kyun. He has also worked as a Bureau Chief of Dawn News.

His first media job was with a weekly publication, Pulse. He served as a columnist, reporter and managing editor in 1999. Arshad Sharif joined The News in 1999 and Daily Dawn in 2001.

Arshad Sharif has covered a number of stories nationally and internationally. His journalistic forays include conflict coverage in tribal areas with the specialisation in defence and foreign affairs. He has also reported for leading Pakistani news organisations from London, Paris, Strasbourg and Kiel.

Arshad Sharif is also the winner of a 2012 Agahi Award.
