The growing band of professionals among Britain's Pakistani community should ensure that the following generations have sound examples to follow in the coming decades. Among those who have chosen to pursue a professional career is Dr. Asif Javed Khan.
Born in UK in 1977 with parental roots in Pakistan, Dr. Asif excelled in his studies at the famous Hutcheson Grammar and continued this trend when he went on to study at the prestigious University of Glasgow from where he graduated (MBChB) in Medicine and Surgery in 2000.
After graduation Dr. Asif did a House job at Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow for one year and then for nearly four years he worked as Senior House Officer in various hospitals in many fields like psychiatry, geriatrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, addiction and palliative.
Dr. Asif Khan has worked for one year as GP Registrar at Possilpark Health Centre in Glasgow prior to becoming partner at Dr. Kauser’s Surgery in the west end of Glasgow in April 2008.
Dr. Asif Khan believes that our people should change their outlook and adjust to the needs of the present day healthcare demands. They should only discuss their health related problems with professionals and educate their children to provide strength and ability for our community in the future.
Dr. Asif Javed believes very strongly that education is extremely important and must be seen as such by the British Pakistani community if it is to progress. He despairs at the lack of facilities for women's education and also that religious education is not given in English. He believes that honesty and trustworthiness are also vital in developing the community both in its business and social dealings.
