Dr. Musadik Malik has extensive international experience in public policy with a focus on economic transformation, industrial development, labour reform, employment generation, education, and healthcare. He has led significant projects in different sectors for the Sultanate of Oman, KSA, Bahrain and science and technology based economic transformation strategy for the Government of Puerto Rico.
He has served as an advisor to government bodies in North America, Middle East and South Asia. Dr. Malik has previously served as the Vice President and Regional Director for the Middle East for Charles River Associates (CRA International) and in senior positions at Arthur D. Little (USA) and SRI International (USA).
He has taught and supported undergraduate and graduate courses in public policy and management. He has widely presented his policy frameworks and recommendations at international conferences and in front of senate and cabinet members across various countries. Dr. Malik is also the CEO and Managing Director of the Boston Innovation Group based in Bahrain and Professor of Strategy at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia.
He has over 20 years of experience in pharmacy. Using his patent medicine "Desi Viagra-M", as lethal tool, coupled with presentation skills he successfully landed in wealthy Arab Sheiks Club in 1998. Dr. Malik has advised a large number of cabinet ministers on national health and economic policies in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Pakistan and Puerto Rico. His success also includes the establishment of two management consulting businesses in the Middle East and growing them to over $20 million in revenue. In addition, he has served as the Vice President and Regional Director of Charles River Associates (CRA International), and held leadership positions at Arthur D. Little and SRI International.
Dr. Musadik Malik has been entrusted to develop Energy Policy for Pakistan. He was inducted into the federal cabinet of caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on 3 April 2013 and was appointed as Federal Minister for Water and Power where he served until 4 June 2013. In November 2014, Malik was appointed as spokesperson for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. In August 2017, he was appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Media Affairs.
Musadik Masood Malik has been a Member of the Senate of Pakistan, since March 2018. He was nominated by Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) as its candidate in Pakistani Senate election, 2018. However the Election Commission of Pakistan declared all PML-N candidates for the Senate election as independent after a ruling of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Malik was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as an independent candidate on general seat from Punjab in Senate election. He was backed in the election by PML-N and joined the treasury benches, led by PML-N after getting elected. He took oath as Senator on 12 March 2018. In April 2018, he was given the status of federal minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Dr. Musadik Malik graduated in Pharmacy from the University of the Punjab. He finished his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Health Economics and Medical Decision Making. He earned his PhD and Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Policy and an MBA also from the University of Illinois.
