Dr. Nadeem Jan, MBBS, MPH, PGDHPM (Tamgha-I-Imtiaz) offers 24 years of illustrious career with UN, USAID, World Bank, EU, DFID, INGOs and national Governments. He has managed complex emergencies in the world’s most challenging contexts like Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Philippines, Kenya, Afghanistan and FATA-KP in Pakistan.
In the period 1996-2000 Dr Nadeem played key role in the development and implementation of Pakistan’s flagship LHWs & Polio programme.
In 2001 he introduced private sector engagement in Polio programme & helped develop its surveillance system.
In 2002-4 he designed a Novel ‘Comprehensive Eye care Programme’ in FATA-KP, which was globally replicated.
In 2004-5, Nadeem launched the 1st ever ‘Health Reforms initiative’ in FATA amidst many odds. His ability to deliver high impact services in short time was recognized by the then President of Pakistan.
In 2006-9, Dr Nadeem led an emergency health and nutrition mission in Somalia where he managed Polio and Cholera emergency response, saving precious lives. He was awarded ‘Presidential Award for Health Services’ the highest civil award granted to a foreign national in Somalia’s history.
In 2009-10, Dr Nadeem led the provision of health and immunization services to the underserved population in South Sudan, he was one of the architects of health policy.
In 2012 the US government, in recognition of his contributions to the Maternal, Child health, nutrition and Polio eradication in Pakistan, awarded him ‘Meritorious services award’.
In 2013-14 Dr Nadeem led the emergency health and nutrition response to Typhoon in Philippines that saved thousands of precious lives. He led the development of integrated immunization programme and was awarded with their prestigious award ‘The Plaque of excellence’.
In 2015, he successfully managed a Cholera emergency in South Sudan.
Managing serious risks Dr Nadeem made Ex. FATA Polio free for more than 2 years. He was awarded ‘Tamgha I Imtiaz’ by President of Pakistan, Cash Award by Governor KP and ‘Meritorious services Award’ by Commander 11th corps.
Dr Nadeem Jan has the history of rendering high quality delivery in the most complex contexts and with limited resources. He has successful record of high impact presentations to Presidents, PMs and high-level forums. He has articulately projected Polio programme and Pakistan’s soft image in national and international media.
Dr Nadeem Jan was born in village Tangi, district Charsaddah. He got his earlier education till middle in Tangi. He was awarded a merit scholarship and was admitted in Peshawar Cantt 1 High School. After passing his Metric examination with distinction he completed his intermediate at FG Degree College Peshawar. He then got admission in Khyber Medical University Peshawar for his MBBS Degree. Dr Nadeem Jan also got a post graduate diploma in health planning and management from Peshawar university.
Dr Nadeem Jan obtained various international training courses from Prestigious institutes like London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine London UK, Kings College London, Centre for disease Control and prevention USA, in the discipline of health system development, health economics, emergency response and preparedness, leadership, M & E and communicable disease surveillance.
Dr Jan is member of high profile national and international forums and has authored research articles published in prestigious journals.
