Currently the Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (http://prcs.org.pk/prcs/), Dr. Saeed Elahi is widely cited as the right man for the right job. His social and humanitarian work profile dates back to his early days as a medical doctor. The touch with the people pushed him to experiment with politics, and soon found himself elected as member of the Punjab provincial assembly, he served as Parliamentary Secretary Health, and later Punjab Minister for Health.
He scored valuable points in his constituency by establishing a string of dispensaries and helping upgrade the beaten down educational system. The public liked him even more when he took active part in the anti-dengue campaign and implemented the Chief Minister’s initiative of providing free medicines, treatment and central air conditioning in government hospitals.
Dr. Saeed Elahi has a vast experience of humanitarian and relief work, having monitored, supervised and arranged relief activities in 1988, 1996 & 2010 floods as well as rendering medical services and relief services to earthquake victims in Azad Kashmir and providing treatment, life saving techniques to Pakistan Army in Nawaz Sharif Field Hospital. His humanitarian achievements have earned him the chairmanship of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
He is also the Chairperson of Chief Minister’s Task Force for Health. In this capacity he has waged a successful crusade against quacks and dealers of spurious drugs. He is member of a number of other committees which shows the Chief Minister’s confidence in his capabilities. He has authored a book on Mian Nawaz Sharif’s days in exile. Dr Saeed Elahi, who was born on October 18, 1959 in Lahore obtained the degree of MBBS in 1985 from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore (http://www.aimc.edu.pk/). He is a gifted author and orator.
