Born in village Marda, Tehsil Ferozewala, District Sheikhupura in 1943, Dr Wazir Ali Khan graduated (BS) from University of Punjab, Lahore and joined WAPDA, where he was seconded to Tipton and Kalmbach Inc (USA) Consulting Engineers on Indus Basis Projects.
In 1966, he came to Manchester, UK for further education, where he started his career as structural engineer. In 1972 he moved to Hastings, East Sussex as project engineer with Local Government.
Dr. Wazir Ali Khan is now a British engineering and management consultant having acquired not only diversified experience in all facets of contracts / construction project management of civil, municipal, telecom and defence projects but also institutional development with strong emphasis in developing organizations, standards, legal, commercial and contractual policies and procedures aligned to the overall program objectives and implementing the same to achieve successful completion of projects / programs.
He has also acquired professional qualifications in various branches of engineering, quantity surveying/project finance, management and law. During the last 30 years, he has held senior positions such as Executive Vice President of A/E Firm, Executive Director, Contracts Administrator/Legal Adviser, Projects manager / Director, Resident Engineer/Owner Representative in-charge of projects or a member of senior project management teams involved in the supervision, management and control of major International projects/ programs.
The major programs and projects on which Dr. Khan has worked on as a key player include but not limited to: Indus Basin Settlement Plan Works projects funded by IBRD (World Bank), English Local Authority projects, English New Town Development Corporation projects, Command Control and Communication Network of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (multibillion $ C3I - Program), Saudi Telecom projects, Saudi Strategic Storage Program (5 multi billion $ petrochemical/defence support projects); Prince Sultan Medical City Program; World Bank Technology Policy (research) project at Johns Hopkins University USA; construction projects in Manhattan - New York City – USA), and London Underground upgrade projects.
He has also, acted as a management consultant to the small firms (less than 200 employees) under a British Government sponsored scheme. He has authored various Technical Reports, Papers, Articles, etc. on various topics and published various articles in the International Press including Pakistan Times, Saudi Gazette, Arab News, the Muslim World League Journal and Professional Manager, UK and also two Guest Editorials published in Saudi Gazette and authored many books on various topics.
