A graduate of GIKI, Faizan Buzdar is the CEO and founder of Convo, a provider of cloud-based digital collaboration workspaces for companies, and their teams, where the visual conversations around multiple files, content and images are critical to advancing business. Convo eliminates the need to jump in and out of emails and applications and accelerates how teams share information, collaborate on work and make decisions.

Faizan is a hands-on executive, entrepreneur and product leader who possesses a unique combination of skills in technology, engineering and interactive design. What has driven Faizan in his years of product development is the application of a human-driven approach to product design: great products are designed for people, by people.

Faizan is known for leading cross-functional teams across multiple locations around the globe. This experience has shaped how he developed Convo: to fully support a fast-moving, agile, globally-dispersed business beyond any product or service currently available. You have to go broad and deep to understand what customers need, you have to continuously get and apply that customer insight, and you have to discover and liberate individual talent and collective, cross-functional teams’ creativity to create unique solutions that drive business success.

Prior to Convo, he launched ground breaking online organizer Scrybe (www.iscrybe.com), known for its enterprising use of web technologies and user experience. The unique ‘viral’ video used for Scrybe’s beta launch has almost 500,000 views on YouTube and upon its launch, created enough of a buzz for the likes of Adobe, NY-Times, Washington Post, CNET, Wired, and Gartner etc. to take note. Scrybe is funded by a major US technology giant, Adobe. Faizan also held senior product roles at Ultimus and Elixir Technologies.

Faizan holds several patents and has designed and taught workshops and classes on human interaction and object oriented programming to undergraduate and graduate students in Pakistan at the National University of Science & Technology (NUST), IQRA University and the National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (FAST).

His passion for User Experience and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is apparent in the many talks he has given at various universities and at P@SHA events to which he has been invited. Internationally, some of the key events he has spoken at include Adobe Engage at Adobe Headquarters, at the future of Web applications in London and Under the Radar at the Microsoft Mountain-view Campus.

There is a lot to learn from Faizan’s experience and the passion and persistence that he has shown since the early days of Scrybe. He is extremely excited by the future of technology and the role that he and his team are playing and expect to play in the development of very cutting edge products.

Faizan also talks about the emerging eco-system in Pakistan, the willingness to share, a sense of community that has begun to form, a lot of events that brings people together – all very welcome because it helps budding entrepreneurs in more ways than one can imagine.
