There are some people among Pakistanis abroad whose position and pre-eminence among their community is so great that they are well known to vast numbers of people for their commitment and duty to the people they serve. These people will often devote much of their time to encouraging and enhancing the lives of those around them through their close and devoted work for the community.
One individual who is renowned for his work for the community is Mr Ghulam Rabbani, who was born in Campbellpur. After graduating from Punjab University Lahore, he arrived in Scotland in 1962 and started his working life as a bus conductor, then worked in manufacturing before starting his own grocery business in 1969.
He joined the Pakistan Social and Cultural Society in 1965 and started playing his active role in social work. Mr Rabbani who has selflessly served the community for nearly forty years was awarded MBE to recognise his services to the community.
