Haris Sohail was born on 9 January 1989 in Sialkot. He is a left-arm orthodox bowler who also bats left-handed. Haris has represented Sialkot Stallions, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited cricket team and Sialkot cricket team. In the President trophy, Pakistan’s First Class tournament, Haris played for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited and scored 2nd highest runs (673) with 4 Centuries at the healthy average of (134.60)in 5 matches after Umar Amin (767 in 9 matches) of Port Qasim Authority.

Sohail has been a key batsman for Sialkot and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, churning out 3,849 First-Class runs at an average of over 50. Having such a good domestic record, a recall to the national side was not far away.

Sohail made his comeback to the ODI unit in the New Zealand series, he contributed immediately, scoring 85 not out and taking Pakistan home from a difficult situation. Sohail also bowled in the five-match series, picking six wickets.

Haris Sohail established himself in the 2010-11 Season, scoring 654 runs in 12 first-class games including his personal best of 211. He passed the 1000-run mark the following season and his performances gave him an opportunity to face England in a tour match in the UAE. A few months later, he was called up to the Pakistan side for the Twenty20s in Sri Lanka in 2012.

He was called up to the Pakistan test side for their 2013 tour to South Africa. He made his ODI debut for Pakistan on 19 July 2013. He was selected for Pakistan's squad for the 2015 World Cup. He scored 177 runs in 6 innings in the world cup at an average of 29.50 with 1 fifty. He also picked 3 wickets at an economy of 6.33. He made his career best 89* against Zimbabwe on 26 May 2015 at the Gaddafi Stadium vs Zimbabwe.

With Mohammad Hafeez not allowed to bowl due to a suspect action, the Pakistan team management have looked up to Sohail to bring balance to the side. Hence he has been selected for the 2015 World Cup.
