Justice Zahid Hussain was born on 15th December, 1949 in a village called Chak Qazian, district Sialkot. He had his primary education from the village school and completed his Matriculation from G.D. Islamia High School Meingri. He then gained LLB Degree from the Punjab University Law College, Lahore.
Justice Zahid Hussain was enrolled as Advocate on 22/9/1972, as Advocate of High court of Lahore on 22/5/1975 and Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan on 21/6/1986. He mostly practised on Constitutional, and Civil sides of Law. In many cases his preparation and presentation was appreciated by the Court.
In view of appearance in number of cases before the High Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, he was enrolled as Advocate of Supreme court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on 11/10/1997.
Justice Zahid has been a Life Member of Lahore Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association and Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association.
Justice Zahid had been a visiting Lecturer for some time in the Punjab Law College and City Law College but had to discontinue this assignment in view of the professional engagements. He was legal advisor for various organizations, including Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Justice Zahid was member of Zafar Law Associates a Law Firm established by S.M.Zafar, former Law Minister and a Lawyer of International repute. Justice Zahid contributed in the preparation of celebrated book titled Understanding Statutes, The Cannons of construction (1997). S.M. Zafar complimented Justice Zahid in his book MAIREY MASHHOOR MUQADDAMEY.
Justice Zahid Hussain was elevated to the Bench as Additional Judge, Lahore High Court, Lahore, on 21/5/1998 and as permanent Judge on 21/5/1999.
