A dynamic and innovative business tycoon, Mohammad Ramzan, who has adopted United Kingdom as his own ever since his migration in 1974 from his native Pakistan. He is self driven, ambitious, self motivated, committed and determined to achieve, who started his business from scratch and turned it into an empire.
The reason for his success has been that he has always conducted business with honesty and integrity. He has the quality of constantly striving for personal and professional excellence.
Ramzan is the Chairman of one of Scotland’s leading Cash and carry Group; United Holdings (UK) Limited, United Wholesale Grocers Limited, United Real Estate Limited, United Property Scotland Limited, United Properties Limited. He has Build and developed three large successful depots in the Glasgow area from inception to completion and has directed every aspect of business growth, strategy and expansion. He is also responsible for an annual Turnover in excess of £100m and managing more than 140 employees across the Glasgow area.
He is a committed family man who would consider his greatest achievement to be his children and installing in them the values that he strongly believes in – hard work, being humble, setting high goals and being focused towards attaining them and giving something back to the society.
Supporting the community is hugely important to him and over the years he has pledged support and commitment to an array of worthy endeavours. He strongly believes that being fortunate places you in a position of responsibility to share your good fortune. The support he gives is in both time and money as both are crucial in changing lives.
Ramzan is committed to supporting the community both in Scotland and Pakistan. He is working very close with the community and growing with their success, promoting young entrepreneurs to achieve their ambitions. He is involved in a wide range of community activities and projects and has helped to organise numerous social and charitable events.
Ramzan is the Founder of the Helping Hands Charitable Trust in his home district in Pakistan. He has pioneered the establishment of a Scheme that funds school achievers through University. He is Director of Ethnic Minority Enterprise Centre. He is also the Honorary Investment Counsellor to the Pakistan Government.
Ramzan is known locally as a ‘King Maker’ and this was evident when he proudly supported his brother Mohammad Sarwar, the former Labour MP for Glasgow Central.
Ramzan is attendee of numerous political dinners during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher and subsequent leaders of the Conservative Party and has always supported the Conservative Party and its candidates through sponsorship. He has worked alongside and established support for Richard Cook, Conservative candidate for East Renfrewshire.
He has worked closely with the late Yaqub Ali OBE, Chairman of Glasgow-based Castle Cash and Carry on political level and sharing his belief that ‘all that matters is people’. The aim is to look after the total Scottish community, and not simply advocate a Pakistani cause.
Ramzan was Vice President of the Students Union at Faridabad College in Pakistan. He is receiver of many commendations and accolades.
