Muhammad Imtiaz is married with three children and has lived in Bradford apart from the time he spent at University and working in Amersham. He was born in small village about 100 kilometres from Islamabad. He came to this country in 1975 to join his father and brother.
The first hurdle he faced was to learn the English language from scratch. After six months in a school specialising in teaching foreign children in English, he went to Thornton Upper School in Bradford. He continued to work towards mastering the English language and managed to study ‘A’ levels in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, which secured him a place at Kingston University. After studying Chemistry at Kingston University, he worked in a Pharmaceuticals Company in Amersham for four years before moving back to Bradford.
Imtiaz joined OHS Ltd, a Health and Safety Consultancy in 1990 and developed his expertise in the areas of asbestos analysing and surveying. In his most recent position as asbestos Project Manager, Imtiaz was responsible for surveying and managing projects for a number of multi-site organisations. He has recently been promoted to a Contracts Manager and appointed Associate Director with responsibility for managing all asbestos contracting work. Imtiaz is probably the only British Pakistani person working at such a senior level within this sector.
Imtiaz is a great believer in hard work, dedication and loyalty. In his spare time he enjoys sports and studying with the Open University.
He is a respected member of the British Pakistani community and will participate in any local and national issues concerning his community.
