Introduction

Mumtaz Ahmed was born in Faisalabad and studied for his B.Com while still in Pakistan. In order to become a qualified accountant, Mr Ahmed completed his articles with an accountancy firm of A.F. Ferguson and Co.

Mumtaz Ahmed was born in Faisalabad and studied for his B.Com while still in Pakistan. In order to become a qualified accountant, Mr Ahmed completed his articles with an accountancy firm of A.F. Ferguson and Co. Chartered Accountants. In 1978, he got married and came to live in Glasgow. His wife is a dentist and also pursues her career with Glasgow Health Board as a community Dental officer.
 
Having completed his B.Com and his articles Mr Ahmed was keen to further his accountancy career in the UK and so, upon arrival, he registered with Glasgow College of Technology (Caledonian University) to complete exams of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ICMA).
 
This took him five years to complete and following his qualification he went to join the firm of Nabi-Macmullan accountants. This was in 1983 and he has remained there ever since becoming a partner in 1986.
 
He and his wife now have three children. Aside from his home life and his work Mr Ahmed is also a member of the Pakistan Media Relations Committee. This group monitors the fairness of the media in reporting Pakistan in British society.
