Born in Okara, Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera graduated from the prestigious Government College, Lahore and obtained LLB degree from the University of the Punjab. He joined the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the year 1982. Mushtaq Sukhera is a graduate of Civil Services Academy, National Police Academy and the National School of Public Policy. He has also undergone numerous professional courses within the country and abroad.
Mushtaq Sukhera has held strategic field, staff and training assignments such as ASP, SP, SSP, DPO and RPO of various cities and regions in the country, staff assignments as AIG Logistics and Administration, DIG Investigation Lahore, Additional IG, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab and the Provincial Police Officer / Inspector General of Police (IGP/PPO) Baluchistan before taking up his current assignment as the PPO/IGP in Punjab in June 2014.
Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera has also served, with distinction, as the Chief of Discipline and Internal Investigation in the International Police Task Force (IPTF) of United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH).
He has adopted pro-people, pro-active, community oriented, technology based and intelligence led policing in Punjab. A number of technology driven projects including Police Station Record Management System, Human Resource Management Information System, Crime Monitoring and Management System, Integrated Command and Control Centre.
Mushtaq Sukhera has also initiated Complaints Management System under his command in Punjab. He is committed to serve the people of Punjab by making the Punjab Police a publically accountable, democratically controlled, politically neutral, and professionally efficient organization.
