Nadeem Irfan Bukhari has years of teaching and research experience at various teaching and research institutes. At present he is working in the School of Pharmacy, International Medical University (IMU), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to this, he held teaching positions with University College Sedaya International (UCSI), Kuala Lumpur and the leading Pakistani Universities, such as University of the Punjab, Lahore and Islamia University, Bhawalpur. He also worked as Radio pharmacist & Hospital Pharmacist at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Lahore and as Medical Representative with Bristol Myer Squibb.
He has been involved in teaching of the students enrolled for IMU and UCSI (Malaysia) own pharmacy programs and that for the pharmacy programs of University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (UK), Curtin University of Technology (Australia) and University Sains Malaysia (Malaysia). Besides lecturing of Bio-pharmacy, Biostatistics, and Industrial pharmacy, he is also involved in conducting practical classes, tutorials, & computer aided learning (CAL) for statistics computer packages, and of coordination of pharmaceutical research, semesters & Modules.
Nadeem Irfan published more than 30 research papers in peer reviewed journals including European Journal of Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (Switzerland), Therapie (France), Tokai Journal of Experimental & Clinical Medicine (Japan), and Journal of Pharmaceutical Finance & Economic Policy (USA). He is author of “Hospital Pharmacy” (ISBN: 969-486-025-3) and co-author of “Pharmaceutical Management & Marketing”. The above books have been recommended by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan for its Pharm D program for public and private pharmacy institutes. The books have also been included in the in the syllabi of a couple of international pharmacy institutes as texts and as supplementary readings.
He developed and managed pharmacokinetic and bioequivalence study programs for Pharmaceutical Industry. As a member in the Panel of Experts, Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan, he provided consultation on the matters related to pharmaceutical industry. He delivered invited lectures and participated in scientific discussions at local and international institutions.
Nadeem got local and international trainings on current pharmaceutical techniques, research methodology, occupational safety, radiation protection, etc., including from University Sains Malaysia, and University of London, UK. He is a member of several professional societies and associations including International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Netherlands and Control Release Society (CRS), USA.
He obtained several grants and sponsorships for research from IMU for Pharmacokinetic study, World Health Organization-Health Action International (WHO-HAI) for investigation of drug prices in Malaysia (as co-investigator), Federation of the Universities of Islamic World for post graduate research (2003-2004) and from Galena Pharmaceuticals (Czech Republic) for Therapeutic Drug monitoring of and bioequivalence study on cyclosporin A.
Nadeem obtained his B. Pharm and M.Phil degrees from Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan and University of the Punjab, Lahore, respectively. Based on his performance during his Bachelor of Pharmacy, he was awarded President’s Talent Scholarship.
He has also been a cartoonist of national level and his work has been appeared nearly every day in leading National Urdu and English dailies for about 10 years.
