Osman Khalid Butt, who is an actor-director and writer, was born on 9 February 1986 in Islamabad. He is the youngest son of eminent television actor, director and screenwriter Dr Khalid Said Butt. He is nicknamed the Pakistani Orlando Bloom by his increasing number of fans.

Osman Khalid began his career in theatre in 2005.  In 2007, he formed his own production company, The Living Picture Productions, under the banner of which he has directed four plays. In 2011, he also gained popularity by producing video blogs on YouTube under the channel name The Living Picture.

Osman has played supporting roles in two films, Zibakhana and Slackistan. Slackistan is an independent movie directed by London-based filmmaker, Hammad Khan, in which he played the role of Saad. Slackistan has not been released in Pakistan due to objections raised by Central Board of Film Censors. In 2012, he acted in a television serial Aik Nayee Cinderella in the lead role, which made him popular among masses.

He is also the co-founder, creative lead and poetry editor at Desi Writers Lounge, an online, 24/7, 365 days a year writers' workshop and community that aims to showcase new voices in South Asian writing through their biannual publication, Paper-cuts. He has also worked in several ads promoting popular brands on television.
