Syed Ahsan Raza Shah was born on 14 July 1968 in Abbotabad. He is member of the Foreign Services of Pakistan since 1993 and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Bachelor's degree in Law. He is presently serving as Consul General of Pakistan in Glasgow. Prior to his this assignment he served as Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (2010-14).
He has held a number of other posts within the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Chief of Protocol (2008-10), Director (Economic Coordination: 2007-08), Director (Missions Services: 2005), Deputy Director (Americas: 2001), Deputy Director (Middle East: 1998-2001), Deputy Director (Economic Coordination: 1996-97) and Deputy Director (Europe: 1994-95).
In his diplomatic postings, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah had served as Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (2010-14), First Secretary, Embassy of Pakistan in Afghanistan (2005-06), Second Secretary, Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia (2001-05) and Third Secretary, High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka (1997-98).
In addition to Urdu and English, Syed Ahsan Raza also speaks German. He is married to Shama Iram Shah, and has four children.
