Syed Muhammad Salim was Born and brought up and also had his early education in Sialkot, Pakistan. He did his matriculation from Islamia High School in 1945 and graduated from Murray College Sialkot in 1949. He then went on tocomplete a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism in 1950, MA in Political Science in 1954 and again a Postgraduate Diploma in International Affairs in 1955 all from Punjab University Lahore.

Syed Salim has also worked as a researcher in the Socio-economic Research Project at Punjab University, Lahore for one year (1955-1956). After that he worked as a College Lecturer in Political Science for ten years at Mianwali, Gujrat, Peshawar, Quetta and Kalat Regions from 1955 to 1964. He then resigned from West Pakistan Education Service in 1964 and moved to London same year where he completed his MSc (Econ.), International Relations, from London University in 1972.

Syed Muhammad Salim joined Pakistan High Commission London in August 1966 where he has worked as Information Officer-cum-Editor ‘Pakistan News’ and Education Officer up to October 1993 when he finally retired as Senior Education/Executive Officer. He has also worked as a freelance Journalist and an Urdu language tutor for diplomatic, British army personnel and students of various international nationalities. Syed Salim has contributed a large number of articles in Urdu/English newspapers, magazines and Journals in Pakistan and England. He has been eager to promote Anglo-Asian relations in the United Kingdom.

Syed Muhammad Salim is married with three children, two daughters and one son. All settled in England.
