PIA administration revokes pilots authority for seat up-gradation

Karachi: The Director of Flight Operations of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) took an impressive initiative to increase the revenue by abolishing the authority of seat up-gradation from its pilots. According to details, Captain Uzair, Director of Flight Operations issued a notification stipulating that the authority of all PIA captains to upgrade tickets of passengers has been revoked.
 
The notification cautioned that in case of non-compliance, the cost of up-gradation will be deducted from the salary equal to the difference of fare whereas, the First Officer shall be issued with a warning letter.
Earlier on, the very powers had also been withdrawn from the chief commercial officer and other related personnel.
 
The national carrier incurred million of rupees loss in revenue per month owing to the practice of ticket up-gradation by the flight crew. The directives were issued on the orders of President and Chief Executive Officer of the PIA.
 
After assuming the charge, newly-appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik said that he was well aware of the problems, constraints and challenges being faced by the airline but he would do his best to overcome those.
 
There will be no retrenchment in PIA, all employees will work in harmony to bring back the past glory of the airline.
