This picture is from the opening of the remarkable Gurdwara on Albert Drive, Glasgow, Scotland. A very proud moment for the Sikh community, but also for my family. My father Ch. Mohammad Sarwar (Governor Punjab, Pakistan) had the honour of laying the first stone.
This was just one moment in a long and close relationship with the Sikh community that has now spanned over 3 generations.
This included helping the Sikh community to acquire the land to build the first ever purpose built Gurdwara in Scotland, making the preparations to celebrate the 550th birthday of Guru Nanek Dev Jee in Punjab and our charity installing clean drinking water plants at Sikh holy sites.
More important than all of that though, is the love, support and loyalty the Sikh community has shown me and my family through all the good and especially the bad times. For that we will be eternally grateful.
So at this time of global emergency, let's send them our best wishes, but let's also remember the principles of the Sikh faith - honesty, loyalty, sharing & charity.
Even at these challenging times the Sikh community has been practising these principles with mobile food-bank for those in need.
Sending love, peace and health to you all.
